My Photo in the Rijksmuseum in 2019

in 2019 My photo 'Ambachten de Pijp 2015' was exhibited in the world-famous Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. It was part of a group exhibition called 'Lang Leve Rembrandt' that lasted 3 months in 2019 and was the most successful exhibition the Rijksmuseum has ever held. I enjoyed it very much. Of the 8390 submissions only 575 works were selected. Not bad!

During those months I often went to the Rijks, often on request to give my own private tour, explaining my photo and making the connection with Rembrandt's 'Night Watch'. That was a lot of fun.
You can read the explanation of my photo on this blog Making a group portrait with meaning.

The week before the opening of the exhibition I had an interview with Het Parool, you can read it here: De Nachtwacht als inspiratiebron voor de ambachten van De Pijp.

And on the day of the opening AT5 (the local Amsterdam television station) was joining me. I was very nervous because I was worried about how I would look on film but that was really perfect. AT5 can be seen here.

Last but not least. Birgitta van Loon from Intent Communications arranged both the Parool and AT5 for me. Very clever! Thank you Birgitta! Well done, Iā€™m very happy with this!!!
